Elected officials and managers who provide proof of medical coverage may receive $473 a month in lieu of medical benefits.

Managers accrue vacation at the following rate: 15 days for the first five years; 18 days for years six through 10; and 20 days after 11 years. In addition, they receive 10 days executive leave and 12 days sick leave annually.

Payment of professional dues is budgeted independently by department.

Managers other than councilmembers are eligible for vacation and sick leave as follows:

• 12 days of sick leave annually. They may cash out up to 25 percent of unused leave each year.

• General managers accrue vacation leave at 10 days per year, up through three years of service; 15 days for four through 10 years; 20 days for 11 through 19 years; and 25 days beginning 21 years and over.

• Executive management and the city manager accrue vacation leave at 10 days per year, up through three years of service; 15 days for four through 10 years; 20 days for 11 through 24 years, and 30 days beginning 25 years and over. Executive management and city manager also accrue another 11.6 days of leave per year. Department heads may convert vacation accrual to cash.
